SOP to Configure Post Office Scope
Currently, Navi Mumbai’s DNS is configured in the Post Office VIPs. So, the main motive behind doing this so is to make sure the availability of Mysuru DR DNS VIPs and DCs in every post office. Through this, all the applications can be resolved by the Mysuru data recovery center after their switching to DRC Mysuru.

Here are some important instructions that you have to keep in your mind and follow very carefully to do this. The complete step-by-step process of this configuration is given below. But here you need to read these important instructions carefully
- This configuration can be done by the verified system administrator only.
- This can be done in any post office.
- Non-branch offices are allowed to do this.
Complete Process
The complete process to do so is given here in very simple steps all you need to do it so follow these steps one by one and at the last step you will be done with that. So, the complete steps are given here.
Step 1: Check if DR DNS VIPs and DCs are already updated or not.
Step 2: Open Control Panel and click on Network Sharing Center.
Step 3: Tap on Manage Network Connections or click on change adaptor settings.
Step 4: Now double-click on Local Area Connections/Active Ethernet. Then, click on properties.
Step 5: Click on Internet Protocol Version 4. Then press properties.
Step 6: Here Click on the Advanced option.
Step 7: You will see the DNS tab so, check only two IPs given here. Like these: 172.24.20.26 and 172.16.20.26
NOTE: Kindly refrain step 8 and step 9 in case you see that the DNS VIPs are already updated with these two 172.24.20.26 and 172.16.20.26
Step 8: If DNS VIPs are not updated so remove all DNS and add these two then press the ‘OK’ button. (Avoid changing any other values)
- Primary: 172.16.20.26
- Secondary: 172.24.20.26
Step 9: Now, make sure that DR VIPs and DCs are confirmed properly. Once you followed all these steps. You only need to follow these steps to confirm it. These are mentioned below.
(i) Check IPconfig entries: Start < Click on Run button < Type here CMD < Click Enter button < ipconfig/All < Enter press.
Now check the DNS servers and update them by following the given steps.
To update the DNS server you need to follow these steps.
(ii) CHECKING NSLOOKUP:
- Click on the Start button
- Press Run
- Type here ‘CMD’
- Then press Enter button.
- Now, type here ‘NSLOOKUP’ and press Enter key
Now, your address will be visible to you with a primary DNS that is 172.16.20.26
